Altair fleet management launched as a Cloud Service on www.altairfms.com
1st June 2010 - Altair (www.altairfms.com), the next generation fleet management system has been launched today as a Cloud service for Global access. The software service enables any corporation or individual to control, manage, optimize and view in real time the use of any type of moving vehicle. Commercial vehicle operators, will see immediate benefits and increase in profits. There will be less empty trips, less wear and tear, less down time, less accidents, real time order processing, more efficient resource and vehicle allocation reduced administration efforts, reduction in fuel consumption and reduction of CO2 gas emissions. In addition, every vehicle can be tracked live by GPS devices via satellite. Importantly, Altair is fully scalable and can manage from a few to many thousands of vehicles.
The software runs in safe data centers which ensures near zero down time and is accessible via the internet. A two week free trial is offered to new users. Users can subscribe on a monthly basis for as little as four US dollars ($4) per month per vehicle. The software offers two modules; (1) Live Tracking, and (2) Fleet Management System. Subscribing to both gives maximum benefits and offers a very attractive combined price. There are three models of low cost, but heavy duty GPS tracking devices available. These can be ordered on line or through authorized resellers.
The Live tracking module enables the follow up of vehicle locations on maps down to street level, records travelled routes, vehicle speed charts, petrol & tyre consumption levels, provides sms alerts to mobile phones. Users can build Geo fences on the map to restrict allowable travel routes. The Fleet Management System offers advanced features including Live fleet scheduling, Maintenance management, accident management, HR & resource management, driver shift management, Fleet utilization statistics, cost center management, customer billing, management reports and dashboard, "For the last year, we have been piloting Altair with 10 customers including an ambulance service with over 2000 vehicles.
